North Lake Houston

The “North Lake Houston” caches, denoted by cache names NLH XE and NLH XW depending on which bank there are near, are from the Caney Creek / East Fork San Jacinto River Merger to the merger of Luce Bayou into Lake Houston.  These caches are best found by launching out of East End Park on the west bank or BJ’s Marina on the East Bank.  Recognize that both East End Park and BJ’s Marina are located in the middle of the series.  Typically we paddle north or south grabbing caches along either the east or west bank and then return paddling along the other. Normally the "river" is more lake like and current is not noticeable.

*Note 1 – Only Kingwood Residents displaying a valid “K” sticker may park at East End Park.  All others are subject to towing.  In the event you want to launch from East End Park please reach out to Team 150% or G&N Geocachers to coordinate parking.  Note that it is ~ 0.5 mile hard dirt track portage from the East End Park Parking Lot to the East End Park Kayak Launch so a kayak cart is needed.

*Note 2 – BJ’s Marina charges a $5 fee for launching.

*Note 3 – A motorized boat, on a trailer, may be launched at BJ’s however due to the low angle of the ramp it is only recommended for use by flat bottom jons and similar type boats.  We recommend Ponderosa Marina or Lake Houston Marina for the launching of larger boats.
