What is San Jacinto River Caching?

These are all geocaches placed along the various bodies of water forming the San Jacinto River that require some form of water transportation (kayak, canoe, boat, raft, etc) to reach.  Due to this requirement all are rated either 4 to 5 on the Geocache terrain rating.  Lake Houston can be thought of as the epicenter with most of the caches focused here.  The caches initially started out as a series of ~40 caches placed along the North Lake Houston section by Team 150% & mcguyvertwo.  There were ambitious plans to expand but Hurricane Harvey, and its flood, came along and wiped out most of the original series and reconfigured the river and lake.  The two then went back to the drawing board, added a 3rd team member (G&N Geocachers), and procured a boat that made placement and maintenance much easier.  Multiple days were then spent sanding and painting soda tubes along with printing, cutting, rolling, and stuffing logs at Team 150%’s house.  After ~ 200 soda tubes were prepped placement started with an agreement that no caches would be publish until at least 75 were placed and ready for simultaneous publication.  That brings us to today.  We plan to continue expanding the series with the objective of covering Lake Houston and the surrounding portions of the San Jacinto River with caches for all to enjoy.
